What? No baton or chemical spray for self defense purposes? Where the hell is she a capital city? I'm pretty sure martial arts isn't enough to get away from a burglar with a melee weapon (which I'm sure most have in the form of a stereotypical crowbar)... at least tell me she can buy her own body armor.

@GabrielsThoughts: Security guards are not police. They have the same rights as a civilian, meaning they could be charged with assult with a weapon if they hurt someone, even a burglar. Their job is to call the police in a serious situation, and be a witness for reports. Though body armour is something you can invest in, but that makes you a threat to an assailant if they see you in armour.

I know guards aren't supposed to have a record for assault. Which is ironic because my sister was a security guard in spite of multiple arrests for assaulting others. I suspect her EMT training and being a lesbian/feminist canceled out the negative record, but in the past she was always getting into bar room brawls and refusing to leave when asked...
